Why in-browser processing matters

When a tool runs on a server, your document is uploaded, processed somewhere else and sent back. When it runs in your browser, the work happens on your own computer or phone and the file never travels anywhere. For you that means:

• Privacy — nobody else receives a copy of your document.
• No upload wait — large scans don’t have to crawl up a slow connection first.
• No account — there’s nothing to store, so there’s nothing to sign up for.

The page itself still needs to load, and some tools download extra components the first time you use them (OCR, for example, downloads language data). Your file stays put.

What the tools can’t do

• They don’t store or sync files — download your result before closing the tab.
• Very large documents (hundreds of high-resolution scanned pages) can be slow on older phones and laptops. Split them into parts if a tab struggles.
