Plan it before you fly
- Look up how to get from the airport to your accommodation, and how long it takes at the time you land — the time zone converter shows what that is at home.
- Check whether the train or bus is still running if you arrive late at night.
- Have a way to pay: some ticket machines and taxis only take local cards or cash, so carry a little local currency.
- Save your accommodation’s address in the local language and on an offline map in case you have no signal.
Getting back to the airport
Allow for traffic and check-in times on the way home, especially for international flights. Your airline tells you when check-in and bag drop close; aim to arrive well before that.
