How to Save PDF Pages as JPG or PNG Images

Some places simply won’t take a PDF: a form that wants “an image of your certificate”, a social media post, a slide where you want one chart from a report. Converting the page to an image solves it. The two decisions that matter are the format — JPG or PNG — and the resolution, and both are easy once you know what the image is for.

- Open PDF to JPG (or PDF to PNG) and choose your PDF.
- Pick the image format and resolution.
- Leave Pages blank for every page, or type a range such as 1-3, 5.
- Convert and download. A single page downloads as an image; several pages come as a ZIP file with one image per page.

Rule of thumb: if the page is mostly words or graphics, choose PNG; if it’s mostly photographs, or the image must be small, choose JPG.

Getting just the part you need
To use a single chart or signature from a page, convert that page at 220 or 300 dpi — so there’s detail to spare — then trim it with the Image Cropper. If the page is sideways, fix it first with Rotate PDF so the image comes out the right way up.
Meeting upload limits
Forms often want an image under 1 MB or 500 KB. Convert at 150 dpi as JPG; if it’s still too big, the Image Compressor can reduce it further, or the Image Resizer can scale it down to, say, 1200 pixels wide.
Posting a PDF page on social media
- Convert the page to JPG at 150 dpi.
- Use the Social Media Image Resizer to fit Instagram’s square or portrait shape, LinkedIn or Facebook.
- Check that text is still readable on a phone screen — if not, crop to the key section rather than posting the whole page.
When a whole page isn’t what you want
- To send someone just a few pages as a PDF, use Extract PDF pages instead — it keeps the text selectable and the file small.
- To copy the words from a page, PDF to text is faster and more accurate than converting to an image.
- To edit the content, try PDF to Word.

Pages are rendered into images inside your browser, so certificates, statements and contracts aren’t uploaded anywhere.
