How does the Fraction Calculator work?
To add or subtract, the fractions are put over a common denominator (the product of the two denominators) and the numerators combined. To multiply, numerators and denominators are multiplied. To divide, the second fraction is flipped and multiplied.
The result is simplified by dividing top and bottom by their greatest common divisor.
