About the GPA Calculator
Work out your grade point average (GPA). Choose your scale, then list each subject’s grade and credits — one per line — and your GPA updates as you type.
Use letter grades on the US 4.0 scale (A, A-, B+ …) or the Australian 7-point scale (HD, D, C, P, F). You can also type grade points directly, such as 3.7.
How does the GPA Calculator work?
Each grade is converted to grade points and multiplied by the subject’s credits. The total is divided by the total credits, so subjects worth more credits count for more.
GPA Calculator formula
GPA = Σ (grade points × credits) ÷ Σ creditsExample
A (4.0) in a 3-credit course and B+ (3.3) in a 4-credit course: (4.0 × 3 + 3.3 × 4) ÷ 7 = 25.2 ÷ 7 = 3.60.
