Short answers sound like a weak level even when the grammar is perfect. Use A-R-E-A: Answer directly → Reason → Example → Add (contrast, future, speculation).
Do you like cooking? → Yes, I really do (A). I find it relaxing after work (R). For instance, on Sundays I usually try a new recipe (E). Having said that, I rarely have time during the week, so I’d like to get better at quick meals (A).
Buy thinking time naturally: That’s an interesting question… Let me think… I’ve never really thought about it, but… Well, it depends.
Extend with range: a contrast (having said that), a comparison (compared with when I was younger), a hypothetical (if I had more time, I’d…) or a prediction (I imagine that in the future…).

What does A-R-E-A stand for?
Speaking
Answer each question for 30–45 seconds using A-R-E-A: Do you prefer mornings or evenings? What kind of music do you like? How do you usually spend weekends? Is your hometown a good place for young people?
Writing
Write A-R-E-A answers (40–60 words each) to two of the speaking questions, then read them aloud.
