High-impact presentations
Deliver high-impact presentations: a compelling narrative, rhetorical techniques, data storytelling and confident handling of tough questions.
In this lesson you will
- Structure a talk as a narrative
- Use rhetorical techniques (triads, contrast, rhetorical questions)
- Present data meaningfully and handle difficult questions
Learn
Narrative structure: situation → complication → resolution. Five years ago we had… Then… So today I’m proposing… People remember stories more than lists.
Rhetorical techniques: triads (faster, cheaper, greener), contrast (not a cost, but an investment), rhetorical questions (So what does this mean for us?), repetition for emphasis, and pausing before key points.
Data storytelling: one message per slide; say what the number means: That’s one in four customers — roughly everyone in this front row. Round numbers and compare.
Tough questions: acknowledge → answer → bridge: That’s a fair challenge. The short answer is… What I’d add is… If hostile, stay calm and reframe; if you don’t know, say when you’ll follow up.
Examples
