How does the Percentage Decrease Calculator work?
To reduce a number by p%, multiply it by (1 − p ÷ 100). The percentage decrease between two values is the fall divided by the original value, times 100.

new value = original × (1 − p ÷ 100)
% decrease = (original − new) ÷ original × 100Example
$250 less 20% = 250 × 0.8 = $200.
A fall from 1,200 to 900 is a 25% decrease: 300 ÷ 1,200 × 100 = 25.
