How does the Tip Calculator work?

The tip is the bill multiplied by the tip percentage. The total is the bill plus the tip, and each share is the total divided by the number of people.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I tip?

Customs differ by country. In the US 15–20% is common in restaurants; in Australia, New Zealand and much of Europe tipping is optional and usually smaller; in Japan it is generally not expected.

Should I tip on the amount before or after tax?

Many people tip on the pre-tax amount. Enter whichever amount you prefer to base the tip on.
