Introducing yourself
Introduce yourself and other people, and ask simple personal questions.

Learn
To introduce yourself, start with My name is … or I’m … (I’m = I am).
Tell people about you: I’m 25 (your age — no “years old” is needed, but I’m 25 years old is also correct), I’m from Brazil, I’m a student, I live in Lisbon.
To introduce another person: This is … — This is my friend, Carlos.
When you meet someone for the first time, say Nice to meet you. The other person answers Nice to meet you, too.
Useful questions: What’s your name? (What’s = What is) · Where are you from? · How old are you? (only with friends — it can be impolite with adults you don’t know) · What do you do? (= What’s your job?)
