Subject and object pronouns
I, you, he, she, it, we, they — and me, him, her, us, them: who does the action and who receives it.
The rules
Subject pronouns come before the verb: I, you, he, she, it, we, they — She works here.
Object pronouns come after a verb or preposition: me, you, him, her, it, us, them — I know her. Come with us.
Use it for things and animals (unless it’s your pet), they for plural people and things. English always needs a subject: It’s raining (not Is raining). They can also refer to one person when you don’t know or don’t say their gender: Someone called — they left a message.

Examples
- He likes her, but she doesn’t like him.
- Can you help us?
- Where are my keys? I can’t find them.
- It’s cold today.
Common mistakes
✗ Me and my friend go to school.
✓ My friend and I go to school.
Subject position needs a subject pronoun (I).
✗ Is very hot.
✓ It is very hot.
English needs a subject — use it.
✗ I love she.
✓ I love her.
After a verb, use the object pronoun.
