Detailed documentation

A 1:5 wall detail is usually a callout of a section: the model provides the walls, floor and roof in correct positions, and you add 2D detailing on top — flashings, fixings, sealant, labels. Detailing belongs to that view only.

• Detail Line (DL): 2D lines in a line style.

• Detail Component (Annotate): 2D families of standard items — timber sections, fixings, blocks — that scale correctly and can be keynoted.

• Repeating Detail: a component repeated along a line — brick courses, blocking.

• Filled Region: a hatched or solid area — insulation, grout, earth.

• Insulation: the batt insulation tool.

• Masking Region: hides model geometry beneath.

Drafting views are purely 2D views for standard details not tied to the model (you can import legacy CAD details into them). Legends show symbols and element types — a door type legend with elevations of each door, or a wall type legend — and can appear on many sheets.

Keynotes read a text keynote file with codes (often organised to match specification sections). Tag elements, materials or user keynotes, then add a Keynote Legend to the sheet (By Sheet lists only the keynotes used there). One source of wording, used across the set.

Before issue: every callout and section references a placed view; view titles and scales are right; no working views on sheets; keynote legends complete; revision clouds and tables current; export and check the PDF.
