Project organisation

Big projects have hundreds of views. Add a view parameter such as View Purpose (Working, Documentation, Presentation) and organise the browser by it (right-click Views › Browser Organization). Organise sheets by discipline or series. Name views predictably — L01 - GA Plan, L01 - RCP — and delete working views you no longer need.

For renovations, every element has a Phase Created and Phase Demolished. Model existing walls in Existing, demolish some in New Construction (Demolish tool), and add new walls in New Construction.

Each view has a Phase and a Phase Filter (e.g. Show Previous + Demo for a demolition plan, Show Complete for the proposed plan). Graphic overrides make demolished work dashed and new work bold — the standard look of renovation drawings.

Design Options keep alternatives in one model — kitchen layout A or B, two entrance designs. Create an option set, model each option, and show the chosen one in views. Accept the primary option when the client decides, to remove the others.

Teams work on one model through worksharing: a central model on a server or cloud service, and each person works in a local copy, using Synchronize with Central to publish and receive changes.

Worksets divide the model (Shell, Interiors, Furniture, Site, Links) for visibility control and to open large models partially. Elements are borrowed as you edit them; relinquish when you synchronise. Always create a new local copy each day rather than reusing an old one. Worksharing has not been available in Revit LT.
