Prepositions of place
Say where things are: in, on, at, under, next to, between, opposite, behind, in front of.
The rules
In = inside an area or space: in the box, in the kitchen, in London, in the car. On = on a surface or line: on the table, on the wall, on the second floor, on the bus/train. At = a point or place of activity: at the door, at the station, at work, at home, at a party.
Other positions: under, above, next to (beside), between (two things), opposite (facing), behind, in front of, near.
Transport: in a car / taxi; on a bus, train, plane, bike.

Examples
