Quantification and coordination reporting

In Navisworks Manage, Quantification takes off quantities from model objects into a catalogue of items and resources: counts, lengths, areas and volumes, grouped by your structure (e.g. by work breakdown). You can also do 2D and virtual take-offs for items not modelled.

Model quantities are only as good as the models: missing, duplicated or wrongly modelled elements produce wrong numbers. Measurement rules (how openings, overlaps and wastage are treated) must match what the cost planner expects. Always reconcile with drawings and label quantities with the model version and date.

A good coordination pack is short:

• Summary: models received, versions, what was tested.

• Top issues with viewpoint images, locations, responsible party and due date.

• Progress: clash counts per test over time.

• Decisions from the last meeting and their status.

Export clash reports as HTML/viewpoint reports and issues as BCF where the team uses it.

Organise items the way the cost plan is organised — by trade or element (e.g. substructure, frame, upper floors, roof, external walls) — so results drop straight into it. Map model properties such as category, type and level to catalogue items, and keep a note of which model versions were measured.
