Good evening. I’d like to update residents on the town centre plans.
First, the cycle lanes on the High Street. Work was due to finish in May, but because of the wet weather it’s now expected to be completed in July.
The weekly market will move from Station Square to Church Square, which has more space and better access for disabled visitors.
Many of you have asked about parking. The new multi-storey car park opens next month, and the first two hours will be free to encourage shoppers.
Finally, the old library building will not be demolished, as some rumours suggested. It will become a community arts centre.
